MyCash.ie is LIVE!

After many, many hours of development and brainstorming, MyCash.ie is finally live. I worked on the site as a technical and multimedia consultant, creating animations, user interface control and CSS development right from the start.

It has been great to work with such talented people on the MyCash.ie team here in Windmill Lane. I’m really looking forward to seeing what the Irish public think of the site over the coming weeks.

I will continue to work on the project as it grows and more multimedia is added, like pod casts, video content and more calculators in the Tools section.

RTE teletext accessibility

Whilst watching a program on RTE 1 the other night I turned on subtitles too keep the volume down. When the ads came on there were no subtitles. Strange as there are approximately 500,000 deaf or hard of hearing people in Ireland, 20 percent of whom are reliant on subtitling for viewing TV. So the advertisers seem to be not properly addressing up to 100,000 people in Ireland.

However there was one advertiser who did provide subtitles: Boots!

Because he makes you think in different ways in digestable small logical chunks. He is a great marketeer and one of the world’s most poplular business bloggers.

Here is a nugget I recently read from a video he was in and is still ringing in my ears:

“A fundamentalist is someone who considers whether a fact is acceptable to their faith before they explore it… A curious person explores first and then considers whether or not they want to accept the ramifications.”

I think he is right, fundamentalism is not about religion its more about what type of bouncer you have at the door to your curious mind.
